I would give this book 3 for a review.

In this new adventure with Tess and Max, internationally bestselling author Amy Ephron takes readers to London at Christmastime, where a new fantastical journey awaits.

It’s Christmas break and Tess and Max are in London, staying at the posh Sanborn House with their Aunt Evie. As they wait for their parents to arrive, there is an unusual snowstorm that makes the city seem as if it’s caught in a snow globe. Perfect weather for an adventure in Hyde Park. But when Max, Tess, and Aunt Evie leave to search for a cab, they find a horse and carriage and driver curiously waiting for them at the curb. And that’s just the beginning…

Soon Tess is charmed by a mysterious boy named Colin who lives at the hotel all year round–on the 8th floor. But Max is sure the elevator only had 7 floors the day before. And how come everyone at the hotel seems to ignore Colin? Things seem to get stranger and stranger. There’s a 1920s costume party in Colin’s parents’ apartment. A marble that seems to be more than it appears. And a shadow that passes mysteriously by Tess and Max’s hotel window.

Tess wants to figure out what’s going on, but finds only more questions: Is it just a coincidence that Colin’s last name is Sanborn, the same as the hotel? Why does the cat’s-eye marble look eerily similar to the crystal at the top of their hotel room key? And, most importantly, what happened in that hotel one Christmas long, long ago?

In this mysterious story sprinkled with holiday enchantment, Amy Ephron transports readers into the magic of London at wintertime, where it’s just possible that what seems imaginary is real, and your wishes might come true.

My Thoughts:

I found this book to be such a fun read. I really need to go back and read the previous books in this series. I would say this book could be read as a standalone but you could also read them in order. I really loved the holiday setting of this book and think it make a quick read during christmas. I thought the plot at points was a bit choppy and not as clear but I overall flew through this book. I really did like main characters of this read and def want to read their other adventures soon. I really liked how this book dealt with the present and the past and also loved the dymanics between the siblings.

Fan Casting!!

I think millie would be so good in this role and would have the nice balance between solving a mystery, protecting her brother and dealing with supernatural elements!!

I think again this young actor is a such a great actor and has a nice balance to play this role. I think he and millie would also have good chemistry as siblings.

This mysterious character seems prefect for this young actor to tackle and I just love to see him and millie interact more on different projects!!

Let me know If you have read this series, who would you cast for these roles, in the comments!!!

Kylene Danners’s ex-FBI agent father is in prison for murder and she’s hell-bent on getting himout. But trying to investigate in the small town where a defensive lineman is a hero no matter who he tries to kill and the girl who gets him locked up is public enemy number one is dangerous. Dark secrets are everywhere in Jasperville—the kind Ky can’t walk away from.

When rookie FBI agent Cedric Dawson returns to town to finish an open investigation, he goes undercover at her high school—as her ex. Determined to keep her from interfering, Dawson’s plan backfires after Ky gets an anonymous call about missing girls officially labeled as runaways—runaways that didn’t really run away at all. Because dead girls can’t run.
And they don’t say a word.

My Thoughts:

I really did enjoy the sequel book to this series. I really was enjoyed both the smaller mystery but also the larger mystery focused on Kaylene dad. I really did like all the friendship. dynamics that were developed. I will i am a sucker for blast from the past romance and I am likening the unlikely ship of A.J and Keylene. I thought the smaller mystery was super well crafted and hard to predict. I found the read to be super fast pace read. As the for the lead character she is def a antihero but she is growing on me and I really am excited to read more books in this series. I also would say if you like series like 13 reasons why and Veronica mars, this might be a good series to check out!

Dream Cast

Garrett A.J

I really love this actor, and think he could play this best friend character so well.

This character is so complicate and Think Mia can handle this character so easily

I really love this actor and hopefully me might make this actor grow on me!!

I have been loving this actor in 13 reasons why, and think he can easily play this role!

With her harrowing tale of espionage and near death experiences finally out in the open, Anastasia Phoenix thought things would be better. That she and her friends had outsmarted Department D, the criminal empire her parents helped create.

She thought wrong.

Former friends have turned to enemies, causing more innocent lives to get swept up into the dangerous world her parents created. Now it’s up to Anastasia to stop the damage before anyone else gets hurt—or worse. She embarks on a treacherous trail from Poland to Prague, and old rivals emerge at every turn. But when the final confrontation occurs, will she be too late to protect the ones she loves… or even herself?

KEIRA IRENE PHOENIX [Looking directly into the camera. Footage released by Phillip Stone Media, Inc.]“Hi. My name is Keira Phoenix, and I am the daughter of international criminals. In May, I was kidnapped by a man named Craig Bernard who, at the time, I thought was my boyfriend. We had met weeks before at a bar in Boston. The anniversary of my parents’ death had just passed, so I was upset when he showed up, acting nice. [She scoffs, rolling her eyes.] I invited him to a party I was hosting, then later that night he drugged me and took me from my home.

“I don’t remember the abduction—one minute I was in my bed, the next I’m waking up on an airplane, my head pounding and my hands bound together with plastic cable ties. [She rubs her wrists.] I was held captive in Italy for months, by armed guards, and I had no idea why. Eventually, I learned that Craig Bernard and all of the men involved in my kidnapping used to work for my parents. Only not as engineers for the Dresden Chemical Corporation. They were spies. All of them, especially my mom and dad. It turns out that my parents, along with Randolph Urban, CEO of Dresden, conspired to create a criminal enterprise known as Department D, which stretches back long before I was born. We have photographic proof that my parents were involved in the assassination of Italy’s Prime Minister Aldo Moro in 1978, and we have a journal, in my father’s handwriting, and eyewitness testimony that proves he was involved in the fake terrorist plot that defamed nearly a half dozen Islamic women in London two years ago along with the reporter who covered the story, Julian Stone.

“I believe I was taken by enemies of my parents as payback for their past criminal activity. Evidence of my time in captivity is undeniable. [For the camera, Phoenix holds up a proof of life photo with a church bulletin, and a posed photo of her body in the trunk of a car.] I was rescued by my sister, Anastasia, and her friends, who acted alone, because the Boston P.D. refused to listen to them, for reasons none of us understand. After my rescue, my sister, her friends, and I made statements to Italian law enforcement and the CIA, and I was instructed to stay in hiding for my own protection. But I was never safe. No one around us is safe. Tyson Westbrook, a seventeen-year-old friend of my sister’s, was murdered recently as a way to get to us, to lure me and Anastasia out of hiding. When that didn’t work, when we continued to fight, these people poisoned one us—Marcus Rey, son of Dresden executives Carlos and Rosario Rey.

“They’re picking us off one by one, and we don’t know how high up the corruption goes. Our parents were hired by world leaders to create propaganda for decades. Now these same people are covering up theircrimes against us—including kidnapping, poisoning, and murder. They’re trying to silence us, take us out, and prevent us from exposing the truth behind Department D and its shell corporation, Dresden Chemical.

“We won’t stay silent anymore.

“We won’t stay in hiding.

“And we won’t trust law enforcement to act on our behalf.

“That’s why I’m coming forward now. I’m telling mystory, in my own words. I need the world to know what’s going on, so hopefully no one else gets hurt.

“I’ve learned a lot about my parents recently, and you will, too, over the coming weeks. They did a lot of bad things. I know that. And they might even still be alive. [She cocks her head.] I’ve heard the rumors, like you, but I swear, if they are, I haven’t seen them.

“However, I am certain that the only way my sister and I will ever be safe is if we bring down the Dresden Chemical Corporation and its corrupt underbelly, Department D. We need to take back our lives and stop paying for crimes we didn’t commit.

“My name is Keira Phoenix and I survived Department D. But will you?”

I really hope to tackle this read soon!

I really loved the first book in this series and excited to  see how this story ends!!

Speaker Blogger tour: (what character am I)!!!

So I recently started this series and I was immediately captured by this world and also the characters! I am really loving how this book is being crafted and so excited to see where this series go!!

I was lucky enough to be placed on a blog tour for the Speaker by Tracie Chi!

Book Summary!!

Having barely escaped the clutches of the Guard, Sefia and Archer are back on the run, slipping into the safety of the forest to tend to their wounds and plan their next move. Haunted by painful memories, Archer struggles to overcome the trauma of his past with the impressors, whose cruelty plagues him whenever he closes his eyes. But when Sefia and Archer happen upon a crew of impressors in the wilderness, Archer finally finds a way to combat his nightmares: by hunting impressors and freeing the boys they hold captive.

With Sefia’s help, Archer travels across the kingdom of Deliene rescuing boys while she continues to investigate the mysterious Book and secrets it contains. But the more battles they fight, the more fights Archer craves, until his thirst for violence threatens to transform him from the gentle boy Sefia knows to a grim warrior with a cruel destiny. As Sefia begins to unravel the threads that connect Archer’s fate to her parents’ betrayal of the Guard so long ago, she and Archer must figure out a way to subvert the Guard’s plans before they are ensnared in a war that will pit kingdom against kingdom, leaving their future and the safety of the entire world hanging in the balance.

What Character Am I!!

I am somebody who always depends on books and reading as a stable in my life. I loved seeing how Sefia’s changed throughout the book and how most o it was was because of how books impacted her life. I thought the relationships she developed with books really changed her character. I felt some connected to her throughout this book and that is why she is the character that I am!!

I am also somebody that always has to solve a mystery or learn a secret and I see so much of that in Sefia’s. That is another reason that I connect to her!

Let me know in the comments what character in the reader series are you!

When her FBI agent father is framed for murder, Kylene is forced to move in with her grandfather, back to the small town that turned its back on her, and the boy who betrayed her.

All Ky cares about is clearing her father’s name, but someone won’t let her forget the photo scandal that drove her away two years ago. As the threats gain momentum, Ky finds an unlikely ally in the rookie FBI agent sent to keep an eye on her.

Determined to expose the town’s hidden skeletons, Ky unwittingly thrusts herself into a much bigger plot. They thought she’d forgive and forget. They’re about to learn they messed with the wrong girl.

My Thoughts:

I found this to such a engaging read. I liked how many mysteries were developed in this novel and how the story not had a rather shocking ending that I did not predict but also most of the stories tied together at the end.

I grew to enjoy the main character but I was a tad more invested in the side characters. I often struggle with unlikable narrators but I did enjoy her by the end.

I found this book to fast pace read that reminded me a lot of the show veronica mars. I really hope we get a book 2, because things were left open and I super curious to see what happens next.

If you like mysteries like Veronica mars and Pretty little liars, with more realistic mysteries, this is the book for you!
