I would give this book 4.5 for a review.

Princess Aurelia is a prisoner to her crown and the heir that nobody wants. Surrounded by spirits and banned from using her blood-magic, Aurelia flees her country after a devastating assassination attempt. To escape her fate, Aurelia disguises herself as a commoner in a new land and discovers a happiness her crown has never allowed. As she forges new bonds and perfects her magic, she begins to fall for a man who is forbidden to rule beside her. But the ghosts that haunt Aurelia refuse to abandon her, and she finds herself succumbing to their call as they expose a nefarious plot that only she can defeat. Will she be forced to choose between the weight of the crown and the freedom of her new life?

My Thoughts:

This book was such a refreshing read. I really loved the how this story took the goose girl myth and really made it unique fast pace story. I was super invested in this story and the characters. I was also really invested in the court politics and they world building around the blood magic. This book was a lighter fantasy but one that really captured my heart. I thought the ending was rushed and could have been fleshed out a tad more but I am def excited for book 2!

Waiting for Wed: Aurora Rising (The Aurora Cycle)!!

I have loved all the books these authors wrote together and I am super excited for this new series by this author. I really hope I adore this series. I am just so sad I have to wait until may to read it!!

The year is 2380, and the graduating cadets of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil Tyler Jones is ready to recruit the squad of his dreams, but his own boneheaded heroism sees him stuck with the dregs nobody else in the academy would touch . . .A cocky diplomat with a black belt in sarcasmA sociopath scientist with a fondness for shooting her bunkmates A smart-ass tech whiz with the galaxy’s biggest chip on his shoulderAn alien warrior with anger-management issues
A tomboy pilot who’s totally not into him, in case you were wondering And Ty’s squad isn’t even his biggest problem–that’d be Aurora Jie-Lin O’Malley, the girl he’s just rescued from interdimensional space. Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler’s squad of losers, discipline cases, and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.NOBODY PANIC.
