I would give this book 4.5 for a review.

From the author of The Last Boy and Girl in the World and The List comes a bold and sweet summer read about first love, feminism, and ice cream.

Summer in Sand Lake isn’t complete without a trip to Meade Creamery—the local ice cream stand founded in 1944 by Molly Meade who started making ice cream to cheer up her lovesick girlfriends while all the boys were away at war. Since then, the stand has been owned and managed exclusively by local girls, who inevitably become the best for friends. Seventeen-year-old Amelia and her best friend Cate have worked at the stand every summer for the past three years, and Amelia is “Head Girl” at the stand this summer. When Molly passes away before Amelia even has her first day in charge, Amelia isn’t sure that stand can go on. That is, until Molly’s grandnephew Grady arrives and asks Amelia to stay on to help continue the business…but Grady’s got some changes in mind…

My  Brief Thoughts:

I really enjoyed the premise and this book a lot. I went to a mostly all girl school and the dynamics in this book reminded me of all female college. I also went to this school as it was going to coed and the male presence def rang true for me. I just loved the use of past and present to tell the story. I loved the focus on female friendship and the focus on the job. I did like the romance but it was def not the focus of the book. I found it to be a super fun read, and reminded me so much of college days. The book had some predictable moments but i still read it so fast!

My Extended Thoughts!!

characters: I thought  the lead girl was super fleshed out and well crafted. But I did want more from the other characters at points. I felt like we got glimpses of these awesome female characters but did not do more but scratch the surface because of all the other story elements. I just wanted more from the other characters

Plot: I thought the plot had predictable moments but overall it still kept me surprised  until the very end. It did have some plots that got dropped but still a super fun read.

Themes: This book was def more focued on self dissovery and the summer job then romance. I perosnally loved the job angle but the romance was def not the heart of this novel and was okay with that!

Pick up next book! I def would in the future I also really liked her pre order campigne!

2018 challenge: Beat the backlist and PSRC book about twins!

Buy on AmazonBarnes & NobleGoodreads

I would give this book 4 for a review.

Sloane isn’t expecting to fall in with a group of friends when she moves from New York to Florida—especially not a group of friends so intense, so in love, so all-consuming. Yet that’s exactly what happens.

Sloane becomes closest to Vera, a social-media star who lights up any room, and Gabe, Vera’s twin brother and the most serious person Sloane’s ever met. When a beloved painting by the twins’ late mother goes missing, Sloane takes on the responsibility of tracking it down, a journey that takes her across state lines—and ever deeper into the twins’ lives.

Filled with intense and important friendships, a wonderful warts-and-all family, shiveringly good romantic developments, and sharp, witty dialogue, this story is about finding the people you never knew you needed.

My  Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book a lot. It focuses so much on friendship as most of Emma books does. I also enjoyed Solane character. She is very much a outsider trying to find her place in a new group of friends. I also like the arts connection that was threaded throughout this novel and also how the fandom elements were used in this novel. I also just loved the group of friends sloane fell into. It was a prefect summer read even thought it is technically set in the winter. I also loved the light mystery that was threaded in this novel. I found this to be a fast pace read as well!

Bring me their Hearts: Tour review and Giveaway!!!

Bring Me Their Hearts by Sara Wolf

Genre: YA Fantasy

Release Date: June 5th 2018

Entangled Teen

Zera is a Heartless—the immortal, unaging soldier of a witch. Bound to the witch Nightsinger, Zera longs for freedom from the woods they hide in. With her heart in a jar under Nightsinger’s control, she serves the witch unquestioningly.

Until Nightsinger asks Zera for a prince’s heart in exchange for her own, with one addendum: if she’s discovered infiltrating the court, Nightsinger will destroy Zera’s heart rather than see her tortured by the witch-hating nobles.

Crown Prince Lucien d’Malvane hates the royal court as much as it loves him—every tutor too afraid to correct him and every girl jockeying for a place at his darkly handsome side. No one can challenge him—until the arrival of Lady Zera. She’s inelegant, smart-mouthed, carefree, and out for his blood. The prince’s honor has him quickly aiming for her throat.

So begins a game of cat and mouse between a girl with nothing to lose and a boy who has it all.

Winner takes the loser’s heart.

About the Author
Sara Wolf is a twenty-something author who adores baking, screaming at her cats, and screaming at herself while she types hilarious things. When she was a kid, she was too busy eating dirt to write her first terrible book. Twenty years later, she picked up a keyboard and started mashing her fists on it and created the monster known as Lovely Vicious. She lives in San Diego with two cats, a crippling-yet-refreshing sense of self-doubt, and not enough fruit tarts ever.

My Brief Thoughts!

*I gave this book four stars*

I really did enjoy this book. I really did like the lead character and also the world building was so fun to explore this world. I just thought the pacing could have been stronger at points and also some of the “court intrigue” stuff I felt was abandoned in the middle of the novel. I really did love the prince in this story and hope in future books we see the story though his eyes. I liked how a unexpected trio developed towards the end of the book and also the dynamics between all the characters was super fun. I def need book 2 after that ending.

WWW: What if its us!!

So I am really craving some contemporary reads and this book is one I hope to tackle soon!

What If its us by  Becky Albertalli and  Adam Silvera

  • Hardcover: 448 pages
  • Publisher: HarperTeen (October 9, 2018)
  • Language: English

ARTHUR is only in New York for the summer, but if Broadway has taught him anything, it’s that the universe can deliver a showstopping romance when you least expect it.

BEN thinks the universe needs to mind its business. If the universe had his back, he wouldn’t be on his way to the post office carrying a box of his ex-boyfriend’s things.

But when Arthur and Ben meet-cute at the post office, what exactly does the universe have in store for them . . . ?

Maybe nothing. After all, they get separated.

Maybe everything. After all, they get reunited.

But what if they can’t nail a first date even after three do-overs?

What if Arthur tries too hard to make it work and Ben doesn’t try hard enough?

What if life really isn’t like a Broadway play?

But what if it is?

What if it’s us??
