Top Five Bromances

So this was a actually super fun to choose these male friendships. Because I love male friendships in book and these are my top five that just make me smile!

  1. Harry and Ron: Harry Potter Series:

From the moment you meet ron I knew I was going to love him and ron friendship. I love Ron in the books much more the movie ron and that is because he is allowed to open harry mind to the magical world. They have ups and down but at the end of the day Ron and Harry always have each backs. I love the chess game in book one and also the Ron and harry scenes in at the lake in book 7. They also have such a fun banter that I enjoy reading as well!

2. Alec and Jace: Mortal Instruments

I have been listening to this audio books of this series. These two boys have such a fun friendship. I love how loyal they are and how far they are willing to go to save the other one. It is such a fun friendship. I just love them so much and they have some of the best banter in books that I have ever read. They make me smile and they are beyond friends they are brothers!

3. Percy and Grover: Lighting Thief

I loved this friendship so much in the early lighting their books. I loved how protective Grover was and also the banter of these boys. They have so many fun scenes and reminds me a bit of ron and harry because grover is percy info man about the unexpected world. I hope we see more of these characters in the future but at the start of this series they def were a fun pair to read about!

4. Pushing the Limits Boys:  Ryan, Chris, Logan

The baseball boys and the noah and Isaiah have such strong male friendships. This book is so grounded in reality but I loved how these friendships discuss more about the girls in their lives and also about their life and the hard topics. They really are awsome friendships and def move towards being family over friends. They have their friends back but also give tough advice the they need too!

5. The Sword of Summer: Hearth and Blitzen

Again this is such a fun pairing that just makes me smile. The dwaf and the elf have such a fun friendship and I look foward to all their interactions. The fact that one can’t talk literally does not effect how you see their friendship. I love them so much!

What are some of your top five bromances let me know in the comments!

I would give this book 4 for a review.

When Allie’s best friend dares their group to play a game in a cemetery—something she calls “witching”—Allie never expects what it might mean for her. When she plays, she doesn’t just find bodies, she summons their souls. But one soul wants more than Allie is willing to give.

And the boy next door could be the key to saving her.

Cody Burkhart. Straight from Montana, cowboy hat wearing, and smoking hot, he’s just the thing to help Allie become “normal” again after the death of her mother. And as her newly appointed Guardian, he’s also just the thing to help Allie ward off the vengeful spirit who’s after her soul. Except Cody has his own demons to slay that keep him closed off. But as the full moon approaches, so does their only chance to break the curse, and Cody will have to make the biggest sacrifice of all

My Thoughts:

I was impressed by this novel. It was a really cool ghost story. I thought that the world was so well crafted and it was a nice self contained story so it is a stand alone. I love the mythology that we were introduced to. I really did love both main characters but especially allie. It was a really quick read but it was a very creepy read. It is prefect fall read I would say. It had elements of witch craft as well that i liked. I wish that the Alie friends and dad had a more of role in the story and not just Cody. I felt like i wanted to know more about those characters and did not get the chance. I overall enjoyed the story. I just wish allie life was balanced and not not focused on her Cody. If you are looking for a fun stand alone ghost story that will keep you engaged and up your creep factor check it out!

Ten Hidden Gem Books in contemporary novels!

hi book lovers! I am doing the broke and bookish tag and choose to focus on Contemporary novels that may have slide under the radar. I hope you like this list!

  1. This is What Happy looks likes by Jennifer E Smith

She has so many contemporary novels but this novel I have no heard many people speak about. It am sucker for small town girls meets famous star and this novel was so lovely. It also has my favorite fictional pet ever ( A PIG!!!) I loved the use of emails as a communication element and just the fun beach town that is this story took place in. This was one of my favorite books I read last summer and really rec it. It was a fun book with super cute characters.

2. The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi

I got this in owl crate box like one of my first boxes. I love book about reclaiming friendship and how it took place over one night. It was prefect summer read and it was such a fun story. I really want to re-read this book eventually. I love the duel time lines of the story. It was such a fun read.

3.  The Imperfectly Perfect Match by  Kendra C. Highley

I got this book from entangled teen and i loved this book. I enjoyed how we got both leads POV and just really enjoyed the characters in the novel. I loved the how the real world elements effected their relationship and it was just a fun story but it got me emotional at points. This book was a lovely summer read and may be just the pick up you need when the weather turns cold.

4.  Falling for Forever by Melissa Chambers

I really enjoyed both the characters and the setting in this novel. It was such a fun read and i loved how much the lead character changed so much through this novel. I also really loved Miles as my new book boy friend. I really hope she writes more books in this series again such a cute summer read.

5. Galgorithm AKA Me You Us by Aaron Karo

I loved this book so much more then I thought it would. I loved how this story was told for only a male point of view but also how he was a match maker. It was adorable read but a really cute main love story but also tiny love stories along the way. It was so cute and def will read it again.

6. Better off friends by Elizabeth Eulberg:

This was adorable fun read and never heard anybody chat about it. I loved the duel time lines we got in this story and the progression of the the lead friendship. It think I finished this book in like 2 days. I could so relate to this novel in high school. If you have not read it check it out!

7. Don’t Look Back:

This was one of the first mystery books that really captured me. I felt so connected to the lead characters and loved how focused on self discovery it was. I loved the characters so much and felt the lack of character memory really enhanced the story! I really again want to re read this story soon.

8. The Unlikelies

Again this is a story focused on friendship and some hints of romance. I just loved the friendship dynamics and was super impressed with it. I loved all the lead characters and also the growth of a new friendship and the summer drama that these characters came up with.

9. My unscripted life by Lauren Morill

This is another small town girl meets super star book. I love the book because of the focus on the movie industry. It was such a cute read and I really love Lauren’s books because i always feel like there is solid ending.

10. The summer after me and you

I read this book a couple of summer ago and it took place in the mist of hurricane sandy. I lived on long island during this time and I really loved this story. It again was a cool duel prospective story and just a fun summer read.

I hope you will check these books out if not now then maybe next summer!

Masks of Shadows: Arc Review

Masks Of Shadows by Linsey Miller

Published by  Sourcebooks Fire on August 29, 2017

Genres: Young Adult, fantasy

Format: Arc

Source: Netgalley

amazonBarnes and Nobel  Goodreads

I would give this book 4 for a review.

I Needed to Win.
They Needed to Die.

Sallot Leon is a thief, and a good one at that. But gender fluid Sal wants nothing more than to escape the drudgery of life as a highway robber and get closer to the upper-class—and the nobles who destroyed their home.

When Sal steals a flyer for an audition to become a member of The Left Hand—the Queen’s personal assassins, named after the rings she wears—Sal jumps at the chance to infiltrate the court and get revenge.

But the audition is a fight to the death filled with clever circus acrobats, lethal apothecaries, and vicious ex-soldiers. A childhood as a common criminal hardly prepared Sal for the trials. And as Sal succeeds in the competition, and wins the heart of Elise, an intriguing scribe at court, they start to dream of a new life and a different future, but one that Sal can have only if they survive.

My Thoughts:

I loved the main character of this character so much. I loved how she was gender fuild and how hat was such a small part of the story. It was so well done in the story and put the focus on so many other then her appearance. It gave me massive throne of glass vibes to the assissan elements and I will admit the way the characters were named did add to my confusion. The story did kept me turning the page and was a great first book in the series but I am curious where book two will go and what will occur next. It made want to keep reading but i do hope the world building is expanded in future books in this series because I still have questions

Bookish Podcast Recommendations

Hi all,

I saw this tag on a couple of different channels and decided to do a whole post and video about. I tend to listen to a lot of podcast and some of them are even considered book related or they talk about books a lot.

  1. Muggle Cast:

Muggle cast is the massive reason I stated listening to podcasts and back in the day it had some of the best harry potter coverage. I still listen to those eps. leading up to deathly hallows so often. They also have eps. recaping most of the books. They also have the most consistent coverage currently for current harry potter era and Fantastic beasts. I love this current podcasting trio and highly rec. it.

2.  Book Hype:

This is one of my favorite book podcasts. I have listen to Karen, Kirsten and Brit for so long. They have their own book club, do news roud ups and also interviews. I look to them for book recs. so often and just look foward to listening to this every week. This was one of the first podcasts I started listening to after muggle cast! If you are book lover I highly rec. this podcast!

Book Hype

3. Hype:

This is another podcast from Hypeable and I really love this podcast. It is general fandom news podcast. They cover a lot of books and adaptation news and is a massive reasons I won a book related trivia contest lol. But i love the hosts thoughts and was even on a call in eps. recently. It really makes you look at opinions other then your own. They also have a book club through patron and also about to start a merlin rewatch! Another podcast I rec.

4. Alohomore: The global reread of Harry Potter

This i am caught the train so late. But they have already con though the entire series and do a deep dive in to each chapter in the series. I love all the hosts and also all the guest hosts they get. This podcast is so joy to listen to and they have moved beyond and are doing a deeper dive into the entire potter catalogue and also various topics. I am just about to start the 6th book as well! If you are looking for a chance to read the series again this is a great podcast to read along with.

Let me know in the comments what bookish podcast do you listen to! I hope you check these out! Let me know if you do 🙂

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I def use good reads as a why to keep track of what I am reading. I also have have two whole book cases that have I consider to be my TBR and that is how I choose what to read and and also after I read If the book is going to be kept, given away or sold. But goodreads is the easiest thing to keep track of my TBR.

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?

My TBR is def mostly physical books but I also do have kindle and buy a lot of dollar day books so I do have a pretty nice back log on my kindle. I go to a lot of signings and that is why most go my books are physical and are signed to me. But I did admit I tend to forget about my Kindle books, which becomes a problem lol.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

I try to read arcs first and try to read them the month before they come out so my review is done a month in advance. I also try to read books in a series back to back If i can, I like staying in a world for a longer period of time. I also tend to re-read or re listen to a  the previous book in series before the new book comes out. I also tend to just go with my what i want and read books like that if i am struggling to choose. Prefect example I am am a Buffy novel now cause I just want to.

A Book That’s Been On Your TBR List The Longest

This book has been on my shelves for like 7 years. It was when walden book store went out of business and I bought the first 3 books in this series for a cheap deal. It was when I was really into the A-list series and I want a book series like that. This is a similar concept but his historical fiction. I want to read it soon!

A Book You Recently Added To Your TBR

This is fun one because It is actually form the company serial box. I won a a different season pass to the book burners series. I got a sample thing at this from a older owl crate box. I then learned I can get these stories as audiobooks and I am so excited to start this story as well.

A Book In Your TBR Strictly Because Of Its Beautiful Cover

My cover is a tad different cause mine is an arc but I love my cover. I begged my friend to get me this book at ALA. I really love this cover and really want to read this book soon.  It is such a pretty cover and also I really want to dive on this story.

A Book On Your TBR That You Never Plan on Reading

This is such a hard question. I will eventually read every book on my TBR. It just may take me awhile.

An Unpublished Book On Your TBR That You’re Excited For

This book comes out in Jan 2018. I have heard so many good things about this fairy book and I really want to read it. The cover reminds me of the spindle fire cover and It looks so lovely. The summary is right up my alley and i have read few fairy books and hope to read it by the year end.

A Book On Your TBR That Basically Everyone’s Read But You

I have read her some of her Contempory books but none of her fantasy stuff. People keep yelling at me to read them. I hope to read book one by year end but this has been one people keeping yelling me to read.

A Book On Your TBR That Everyone Recommends To You

My friend Jen keeps threatening me if I don’t read this book. I don’t know much about the premise but she keeps raving about it and i USUALLY love anything she likes. So hope to read it soon!
